Pumpkin

I love how using just a little highlighting on the edges of an oval punch can make a pumpkin.  Using punches and highlights is opening up a whole new world to me. I am looking at punches and dies differently these days.   It's not just stamps anymore.

For the stem on this card I actually used a piece of very vanilla that I had embossed with the woodgrain folder for another card and then used  the early espresso ink pad to darken.  I liked the idea of the texture for the stem.

Fall Wreath

While scrolling through www.splitcoaststampers.com I got the idea for this card.  This is a great site for getting ideas.  When I came up with the color scheme it made me realize this is a design that can go from one season to the next just by changing out the colors.  It is a very simple card to create but very time intensive due to the manual cutting out of the leaves (no punch for this one).
Recipe
  • Stamp Sets - Day of Gratitude and Teeny tiny Wishes
  • Ink - Tangerine Tango, More Mustard, Old Olive and Cajun Craze
  • Paper - Very Vanilla, EggPlant and Decorative paper
  • Accessories - twine

Happy Birthday Card

I got the idea for this card from a Sneek A Peek card making session held by Glenda Travelstead.  I have really enjoyed going to these sessions.  It's an opportunity to try out new product and get ideas for future Stamp A Stacks.

Sorry it's been a while since I have posted anything.  As I said in my last post I had done my first craft fair but what I didn't say was I was heading into my next one which was only 2 weeks away.  Well with another craft fair on the way and the hope that the first one would product some customers the ups and downs were many.  I made it through and created many cards in between.  So I will have many posts to come with all my new creations.  I have to say that I have been pretty surprised by my ability to be creative.  I have been going outside my comfort zone and been (if I say so myself) impressed with myself.
I have been in the accounting field most of my working career and liked that I could add a row of numbers get a total and that was it.  Very black and white.  Well in the next couple of cards I'll be posting I broke out of that.  Let me explain.  The following card is die cut leafs.  Normally my thinking goes like this:  leaves have vanes in them, draws some vanes and that's that.  This time I got the idea to use a couple of different embossing folders on the leafs.  I gotta say I loved it.  All those different textures.  Then dare I say - the background paper is going the wrong way.  A very dear friend brought it to my attention (I didn't even notice it!).  My thought on it "Creative License".  What a break through!  So here it is and you can decide for yourselves.

I did my 1st Craft/Vendor Fair yesterday as a Stampin' Up Demonstrator.  It was different than going as just a crafter.  You are there representing a Brand that many people know.  It seems there is always someone that's been there, done that and isn't interested. It is the one who stops at your table and is really excited about stamping and Stampin' Up that makes the 2 hours of sleep the night before to get everything ready well worth it.  She proceeded to tell me about all the stamps she has but hasn't used and when she finds out that I don't live that far from her she quickly signs up for a  Stamp a Stack where she will have the opportunity to get creative again.
It was a long day, but a fun day talking to people who knew nothing about stamping to those who have stamped for years and are still excited about it.  I can't wait to see what my next Craft/Vendor Fair on October 13th in Oak Lawn has for me.

Just for You Card

For my first post I thought I would download my first card swap.  It was a little intimidating doing my first card swap after seeing so many amazing designs. With this blog, however, I decided I had to take the plunge or just call it quits.  SO here it is:

I used the Tea Shoppe Stamp Set, the background paper from the Comfort Cafe Designer Series Paper and the First Edition Specialty Paper .  The words "Handle with Care" and "Fragile" were typed on my computer in red ink.
